Top Music Videos... Ever! [LJ Repost]

*part of a series of posts I am cross-posting. I'm finally within the MySpace timeline, which means these posts will be dated the actual date/time they were originally posted*
As some of you may know, I have been spending a lot of time organizing my music collection. It got me to thinking about my all-time favorite music videos. So for fun I came up with this list. Apparently someone else agrees because a few of them seem to appear on a "top" list belonging to someone else:
10) Video Killed The Radio Star - The Buggles *The best part of this is the Ziggy-Stardust-esque female pop star trapped in the giant plastic tube. It's not the most interesting video ever, but it is the first video ever shown on MTV and therefore paves the way for the remainder of the list*
9) Rock DJ - Robbie Williams *It features models in a roller-disco, need I say more? OK, if that's not enough it's amusing to laugh at how much Robbie "thinks" he is the sexiest man on earth, yet he can't even get the DJ's attention. He tries and tries, finally resorting to stripping off his clothes, then his skin and other vitals while the rollergirls eat his flesh. Pinhead would be proud!"
8) Close (To The Edit) - Art Of Noise *Art Of Noise lives up to their name with this funky video featuring them using everything (including the kitchen sink?!) as instruments. As an added bonus, a cute little punk rock girl runs amok."
7) Rock It - Herbie Hancock *This used to scare me for a little bit as a child. I got over it though, and realized the robotics were actually really damn cool.*
6) New Song - Howard Jones *Before he went all sentimental with "No One Is To Blame" HoJo shows his unusual side, dancing trough the streets with monkey-man/mime in chains and a lot of other odd characters in tow*
5) Windowlicker - Aphex Twin *Richard D. James decided once again to superimpose his head onto the weirdest thing possible (ref.: Come To Daddy video). This time it begins almost like any other T&A rap music video. Bodacious bodies heaving their bits in tiny outfits, with James' creepy smile leering back at you!"
4) Devil Went Down to Georgia - Primus *Primus gives Charlie Daniels the California Grapes treatment, if you have no clue what I mean; just watch it already."
3) Right Now - Van Halen *Some of you probably don't count anything with Sammy singing as Van Halen, but you have to admit the video featuring unusual images interspersed with political and social commentary printed out on the screen was revolutionary*
2) True Faith- New Order *Also up there with my top songs of all time, this utterly bizzare video used to entrance me in my youth. Harlequin like aerobic/martial arts dance moves, sign-languaged lyrics, and general all around weirdness. What's not to love?*
1) Weapon of Choice- Fatboy Slim *It's almost impossible to get enough of this one. Set in a hotel, straight-man Christopher Walken cuts loose to this quirky catchy beat. "Oh, bellboy! Would you kindly fetch me my dancing shoes?"*
HONORABLE MENTION
These ones didn't quite make the list, but are also quite good1
Thriller – Michael Jackson *Yeah, yeah Michael Jackson hasn't been hip for years... but this is still one of the most amazing videos ever, because it not only pays homage to the classic horror movie but was also one of the first of it's kind to tell a story rather than just show the artist or the band standing there mouthing the words to the song.*
Timber – Coldcut *I just like Coldcut anyways... but this video is neat because it helps you understand, in case you didn't quite already get it, that almost the entire song is made using saw noises.*
Here It Goes Again – O.K. Go * Wow, I almost thought people pretty much gave up on making fun videos! Excellent use of treadmills.*
The Bubblemen are Coming – The Bubblemen (a.k.a. Love & Rockets) *It's Daniel Ash & Co. dressed up as giant black & white bee looking things (bubblemen) dancing, singing and doing everyday stuff.*
