| So I was just bitching yesterday [LJ Repost] |
*part of a series of posts I am cross-posting. I'm finally within the MySpace timeline, which means these posts will be dated the actual date/time they were originally posted* When it turns out that prices for a Wii on eBay have gone WAY WAY down now that the lauch date has gone buy and you can actually get one for about $315 which isn't nearly as unreasonable as the $610 they were selling for a week ago. I still have a high bid on one I bid on not realizing it wasn't going to ship until after release date, so I'm crossing my fingers here and hoping I end up winning (right now I have it at $275 not bad at all!).

| Rant Regarding Downstocking [LJ Repost] |
*part of a series of posts I am cross-posting. I'm finally within the MySpace timeline, which means these posts will be dated the actual date/time they were originally posted* So I was debating if I should write this or not, and decided what the hey. It's a small rant and no outcome of change is hoped from it other than to vent. I basically wanted to give both Sony and Nintendo the big "FU" of the week award for intentional downstocking of thier nextgen consoles. This by no means indicates that I do not still want both a Wii and eventally (when it's not $600 anymore) a PS3. However as I was watching a news report on the PS3 release which indicated various riots and even the shooting of one potential customer, and also the indication that people sat outside in the rain and cold weather for days for the damn thing, I wondered if it was all worth it? Why hype up a product and then not deliver enough of them? I mean you only stand to make more money by making sure theres enough items in stock? Maybe it's a supply/demand thing, they can only justify the high price tags by making sure only like 10% of the people that actually want them can actually procede to purchase one. Who does this help other than the one guy I saw smiling ear to ear who stated bodly "I'm gonna sell it on eBay"? It doesn't help you Sony , or you Nintendo. That extra money is going in that guys pocket, instead of yours! And the worst part of it, I am still seeing PS3 commercials now a full 3 days after they were long gone from the stores. I myself tried to find a Wii without musch luck, unless of course I wanted to pay more than twice the price (and belive me I bid up to what I thought was a resonable price, esp. for consoles offereing Zelda as part of the package) on eBay. I dunno I guess in my head while it's a little disappointing that I didn't get one, I am kind of more bummed out because I keep thinking of some kid somewhere who really wanted one for Christmas and now won't get it (unless of course they miraculousl ramp up production or the kids parents have crazy cash to blow). I feel a little let down that there isn't some better way to determine who gets these things. It's worse than scalpers at concerts! So instead of a wii going to say a kid that really wants one or myself who has been playing video games since Atari (and Nintendo in particular since the first NES console) it went to the aformentioned greedy sonuvabitch who's just looking to make some quick bucks. And yes I suppose I could have stood in line like everyone else, but I have a child and a family and in the end it is just a game, and eventually when all the hype dies down I will have one, so I decided why put myself through all of that?

| Gratuitious UP Post [LJ Repost] |
*part of a series of posts I am cross-posting. I'm finally within the MySpace timeline, which means these posts will be dated the actual date/time they were originally posted* Just testing out my new UP to see how it looks on my page (I am a sick woman, my favorite scene with Basch is while he is in bondage). See, this is what happens when EQ2 is down and I don't actually want to play FFXII until later because I have a doctor's appt. and don't want to get into it and then have to leave. And for those of you that know me too well, yes I did make a Basch char for EQ2, I made him a Paladin because technically those are the "Knights" of the game and they have a nice ratio of fighting power and magic, not to mention they get a mount spell without costing crazy amounts of Platinum, so he should be riding a steed in no time (too bad no chocobos.. I suppose I could always make one in FFXI as well, but that still requires me to buy the game again)!! In other news: my CoV Sephiroth is finally able to get wings!! Gotta log him on and see if they let me just buy him one, LOL!) *Note 9/2/08: For the record the userpic in question was this one:

| Macho Is The New Emo [LJ Repost] |
*part of a series of posts I am cross-posting. I'm finally within the MySpace timeline, which means these posts will be dated the actual date/time they were originally posted* OK, I'm gonna try to not spoil anything here as far as the game is concerned (unless of course you count saying someone's name a spoiler... in which case stop reading already) but Square-Enix actually made Manly Macho Men (and not Waify Emo Effemenate boys... well except Vaan but ignore him) and yeah I think this is the most I've actually wanted a character to come out of my tv and into my living room since Sephiroth (so... uh 1997). Basch and Balthier mmmm... hmmm... *drowns in puddle of own drool* |

| FFXII (Spoliers?) [LJ Repost] |
*part of a series of posts I am cross-posting. I'm finally within the MySpace timeline, which means these posts will be dated the actual date/time they were originally posted* My impressions based off the two or so hours I've played so far since I bought it yesterday. Well first off, it's official I am a geek, because hearing the FF Theme made my eyes tear up a bit. Yes I realize I am lame. But that's all I'm saying up here the rest of it is under the cut, Also so far FFXII seems like some strange combo between FFXI, LotR Trilogy, and Star Wars (chap 2&3), also I love cut-scenes from SE because they are always so brilliantly done, but much like KH2 the first 45 minutes or so of this game is all a really elaborate tutorial. Captain Basch wants to be Russell Crowe in the movie Gladiator so bad, it's almost painfully funny to listen to him. The cities are the bit that reminds me of FFXI, the airship battles are the part that make me think of Star Wars (or at least in the cinematics, I haven't actually HAD an air ship battle myself yet), and well the rest of it, the story and most of the castle fighting scenes are the bit that remind me of LotR. Also that Vayne (yes his name is really pronounced like Vain) is pretty hot, but then as his name implies I think he know's he's pretty hot the way he keeps doing that Charlie's Angel thing with his hair. Meanwhile I'm a little frightened by Vaan (the main Character) because I bought the Collectors Edition guide (to go with my collectors edidtion game, duh!) and the first half of the massive tome is just all the artwork in one book, and the second half is the actual guide and they printed it with this big ole picture of him with his outfit falling off and his chest showing, and ok technically he's 17 so he's legal, but he looks like 14 and everytime I open the damn thing it makes me feel like a pervert and like I should be arrested for child pornography or something. What's weird is Riku and Sora from KH aren't legal and I have no problem with them, but maybe it's cause I can't see thier hairless wonders of a chest. People were heard to be bitching about the fact that they changed the battle system, but I'm honestly not finding an issue with it. I actually kind of enjoy no longer having "random encounters" and instead seeing my enemy and having a chance to sneak up on it and steal items and maybe get in a nice hit before they start targeting me back, also it's nice to be able to try to avoid thier counter-strikes by backing off again and coming back in when your attack meter is full again. So yeah I'm out today which bums me to no end since I really want to stay home and play.. but oh well. Oh yeah and I made the guy at Game Spot jealous because he had to wait until today to get it (he was waiting for his paycheck), and I'm thinking no way in hell could I ever work there because I'm bad enough without getting the "employee discopunt" the same would go for me working at like Suncoast Video or a record store.. yes, feeding my addictions with promised discounts would make me very broke. Oh yeah, and also for some reason he was surprised that the game was for me? Apparently women (mom's in particular since I had Meaghan with me) don't usually buy Final Fantasy games?? WTF? I'm really thinking he didn't even have to ask if it was me since I was wearing my Jenova's Witness shirt (yes Annie, i bought it, and the Heartless one as well thanks for those links). OK done babbling now. |
