Friends Only!! [LJ Repost]
*part of a series of posts I am cross-posting. I'm finally within the MySpace timeline, which means these posts will be dated the actual date/time they were originally posted*
I know... I can't make up my mind! Just post a message if you want me to add you!

*Note 9/4/08: This doesn't mean jack to you MySpace people as this blog had been Friends Only since the start... but my LJ one went private, then unprivate and then private again (in moments of indecision and trying to get more people to read) several times over the course of the years, to finally settle on permanent Friends Only status. Besides I wanted to show off my cool Eddie Izzard thingy..*

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [LJ Repost]
*part of a series of posts I am cross-posting. I'm finally within the MySpace timeline, which means these posts will be dated the actual date/time they were originally posted*
http://ishtarandromeda.comHave I mentioned I think I'd like to have sex with Word Press....
*Note 9/4/08: For those that are moderately confused. Previous posts with links to my website had been modified to link to ishtarandromeda.com. Originally they linked to my old website ishtar.meltman.com, which if you read the posts I had many problems with. The mainainter is still a good friend, it just didn't have the stability I wanted (i.e. crashing and then having to upload ALL my stuff every few months) nor the capability to run my chosen software (WordPress). So I finally registered my own domain name hosted with BlueHost (who I;ve been really happy with so far). This is my first post with the new domain, hence all the excitement*

Strange Spam [LJ Repost]
*part of a series of posts I am cross-posting. I'm finally within the MySpace timeline, which means these posts will be dated the actual date/time they were originally posted*
Here is a short list of some spam I got today that I found kind of funky (well funkier than usual):Subject: Beware Fake Pills - Only nowhere in this e-mail does it mention fake pills, or even real pills for that matter. I've seen plenty of e-mails where this body was nonsense or doesn't have anything to do with the subject, but this one was special. It contained a lot of little scroll down windows that as you read them turned out to be, a little erotica story! This has to be by far the most original mailing of porn spam I have ever recieved, even though really if I had it my way I wouldn't recieve any, thanks for at least making it different.Subject: You've recieved a postcard from a family member - I actually got this not once, but twice today. The body goes something like this "Good day. Your family member has sent you an ecard from [link removed]. Send free ecards from [link removed] with your choice of colors, words and music. Your ecard will be available with us for the next 30 days. If you wish to keep the ecard longer, you may save it on your computer or take a print. To view your ecard, choose from any of the following options:" etc. Now notice they don't bother to tell you what family member. Not to mention the link originally provided was from Hong Kong, and I'm very certain I do not have any family members there. So I ask you, does anyone ever fall for this?Start a Culinary Car... - This was actually truncated from "Career" but I found it amusing because all I could think of was that scene in Back to the Future where they get the DeLorean running by using food scraps from the trash bins.Subject: Panda Software - Awesome! When I get a panda, I'll be sure to let him know you made some software he can use.

I was going through all the trouble of changing my entries one by one from Friend only to Public only to realize that they have apparently added (or it's part of the paid user software) an en masse utility... so yeah uh DUH!

I am a big dumdumhead! I have been trying to get past this one quest in Guild Wars and I just couldn't do it, and first I figured well maybe I have the wrong type of group, but no matter who I switched out it still wasn't working, and then I thought well maybe I just need to level first, but no that didn't help, and I got the best armour upgrades I could and made sure I had all the spells I was supposed to and nothing was working, until i realized that I was still grouping with four people (the max in the last zone I was in) and was now allowed to group with six people!!! DUH DUH DUH DUH...

BIG SPOILERS [LJ Repost]
*part of a series of posts I am cross-posting. I'm finally within the MySpace timeline, which means these posts will be dated the actual date/time they were originally posted*
IN MEMORIAMTo those who gave thier lives either intentionally or by accident to surve the greater good and defeat Voldemort's reign:James PotterLily PotterCederic DiggorySirius BlackAlbus Percival Wulfric Brian DumbledoreCharity BurbageHedwig the OwlAlastor "Mad-Eye" MoodyRufus ScrigemoreBathilda BagshotTed TonksDirk CresswellGornuk the GoblinGregorovitchGellert GrindelwaldPeter "Wormtail" PettigrewDobby "a free elf"Remus LupinNymphadora TonksVincent CrabbeFred WeasleyColin Creeveyand countless others both muggle and wizard alike...A special moment of silence reserved in honor of Severus Snape (Professor and Headmaster), for showing that even the most hardened exteriors can house a kind and loving heart, willing to sacrifice thier own destinies and lives to serve a greater purpose and defend not only the memories of the ones they loved, but their familes as well. And for proving that a wayward soul can still find redemption, should they choose to seek it.In honor to J.K. Rowling (not deceased) for ten years or magnificent writing. For creating a world beloved by many, and for being kind enough to make Severus Snape's demise quick and painless (I have read that he was your favorite character as well) so that I could finish the rest of the book without crying (too much) and revel in the fact that all along I was correct in thinking he had some good in him yet.Lastly to Harry Potter (not deceased) for maturity and courage beyond measure. For strength greater than any previously recorded wizard, for believing in your friends, and lastly for the act of forgivness given to whom you thought was your second greatest enemy, realising what he sacrified and helping his name live on through your son Albus Severus.
****writer's note: and now of course it has hit me all at once and I am bawling my fucking eyes out.. thanks alot Jo.. ;-)****

An Epic Comes to an End (Possible HP: Deathly Hallows spoilers) [LJ Repost]
*part of a series of posts I am cross-posting. I'm finally within the MySpace timeline, which means these posts will be dated the actual date/time they were originally posted*
So tonight at midnight I get to pick up my copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. In a way it's a little nerve-wracking because while some of me can't wait to read what happens next, there is also that empty feeling of knowing that there will never again be another book. I guess this is probably similar to how people felt when Tolkein's "Return of the King" was released (although they didn't have to wait a span of ten years to complete the story). Some things I am looking forward to: finding out what the rest of the Horcruxes are (I suspect Harry is at least one of them, the whole scar thing etc.) and finding out who the new DaDa teacher and Headmaster are. Some things I am not looking forward to: crying my brains out. Yes you heard me I am that lame I am going to cry like a little baby, I just know it. Reason being if you've been a follower of my postings over at prof_snape LJ community or read any of my Blogger posts from the period in between Goblet of Fire and Order of the Phoenix, then you know that I have a firm belief that my favorite character, Severus Snape, is going to die. Top reasons I belive this: 1) Snape still owes a blood debt to James Potter 2) Snape was in love with Lily Potter which is why he hated James so much (aside from the obvious reasons like he hung him upside down so his underwear showed) and why he is at least irked by Harry (both because he sees the child which could of been his and because as we are always reminded, Harry has Lily's eyes, which I suspect bring back some painful memories for Snape) but also will do anything to protect Harry (as seen in our very first glimpses of him way back in Sorcerer's Stone when he performs the counterjinx at the Quidditch match) simply because it's all he has left of Lily... in fact I wouldn't be surprised if we found out Snape betrayed Voldemort in the first place in some way due to Lily either at her urging, or if not then when she was killed he instantly renounced him 3) As I have argued all along, Snape is actually inherently good, despite his gruff exterior. He essentially had a crap childhood which included a bad family life (I still believe Tobias used to beat both Snape and his mother Eileen) and a bad school life (he was outcast and teased mercilessly) which caused him to be lured towards the Dark Arts, thinking it would give him some sort of power where he formerly felt he had none (much in a way sometimes outcasts in normal schools try to pretend they're into satanism or turn into bullies themselves to attempt to hide their insecurities) but quickly realized it wasn't what he wanted for himself, or for that matter would score him any points with the woman he loved. So you may ask, then what that whole bit with Dumbledore then? As many people (including myself) have argued, this was all part of a grand scheme arranged between Snape and Dumbledore. Originally I had believed that Dumbledore may even return in this book (thinking Snape may have given him a Draught of Living Death), though I have slowly convinced myself otherwise. Instead I think perhaps the answer lies in Dumbledore's withered hand, which he received in regards to Gaunt's Ring (one of the horcruxes) either during the finding or it, or during the destruction of it's ablity as a horcrux, which permanantely cursed Dumbledore in some way. In otherwords Dumbledore was going to die in some set amount of time period anyways, regardless of whether Snape killed him or not. So the two devised the elaborate plan and acted it out, which in turn caused several things to happen: a) it will give Harry what he needs most to defeat Voldemort (having now no one to lean on for guidance, and fueled by revenge for all those he loved and the will to protect what is still left to him, he will find his own inner strength) b) it solidifies Snapes standing on the dark side of things, so he can continue to work from within to bring down Voldemort and also fufills the unbreakable bond he made with Bellatrix and Narcissa c) it protects at least one innocent, in this case Draco Malfoy, for as nasty as he is he is still a boy under the age of eighteen manipulated by his friends and his parents to do something intrinsically wrong. I think Jo wanted to protect him in some way from the ultimate act of evil and show that he didn't have it in him to do the nasty, even though he would like to pretend he did. I am up in the air about how this will turn out in the end, but I would like to speculate that Voldemort seeing him fail now wants nothing to do with him, or worse would like to see him killed for his inability to follow through, and Draco will end up making an about-face and begrudgingly joining up with Harry and friends, to at the very least, save his own skin (which seems like a Draco thing to do).
