Hot Chocolate

Well to be specific.. chalky hot chocolate. YUK!
I mean it's one thing when you're home because powder is much easier then messing with syrup and hey at least Swiss Miss despite being a powder actually conforms with the liquid, but when I go to a fast food joint or restaurant I expect hot chocolate made out a giant bin of oozy chocolatey goo, or at the very least if you're going to make it out of powder then at least run it through the expresso machine and steam the milk or somesuch.
So this has actually been my complaint for a while with Dunkin' Donuts hot chocolate... so today because I've been wanting to try one of those McSkillet Burritos since they came out (excellent yet spicy by the way if you're into that sort of thing.. infinately better than the regular breakfast burrito) I went over to McDonalds, expecting the good old fashioned hot chocolate they always used to serve made of said chocolate goo, and I get this cup labeled Newman's Own because that's what they changed thier coffee to a couple years back to compete with Dunk's.. and I go to drink my hot chocolate and BLEAH chalky hot chocolate.. why oh why did you cahnge it?! That was one area in which you certainly shouldn't have tried to compete with Dunk's! Man now I gotta go out of my way to get hot chocolate at greasy spoons.. unless maybe Wendy's serves breakfast with good old fashioned hot chololate goo?
Yeah so this is why I could never run for President or anything. Hot chocolate is my pressing issue of the day. My Advisor would be like "Mrs. President what should we do about the situation in Abu-Dhabi" and I'd be all like" I don't know, what we really need to do is regulate hot chocolate... this chalky crap is a travesty of nature!".

Desperately Seeking... Music [EDIT]

For real. I keep trying to find new bands. It's like I am clinging to the hope that anyone will kind of jump out of the pack and wow me. Franz Ferdinand almost did it several years ago now, but then thier second album just sounded the same as thier first and I got really bored. I want to hear the next wave... or something. I can't really explain what it is that I'm looking for, but in the meantime I've just been buffing up my old annuls of music from decades gone by and I so don't want to be THAT girl that can't get past the year 1990-whatever! So really, if you know some band that are new and don't just freaking sound like everyone else, please recommend them before I go mental! It doesn't even have to be a particular genre. I really do like almost everything. I don't care if you send me rock, pop, new age or polka... anything I haven't heard done about 100 times before would make me really happy right about now. Hell it doesn't even need to be a "new" band! Just maybe if everyone would send me a list of their top 5 favorite bands at this particular moment in time, that would be a start. (I have gift cards that are just shouting at me to be spent in the name of music)
ETA: So far during my quest, I have found the following bands/artists:
Foxboro Hot Tubs - take one part Green Day, one part Hot Hot Heat, and a pinch of the Beach Boys and throw it all in a blender.
The 85's- this is actually my brother's ex-band. They're broken up and not doing new shows at the moment, but if you can find a copy of their CD it is totally worth it (and no I am not someone who would just say that because my brother was in the band). It's a bit like the Beatles meet the Flaming Lips... but I thinks thats a bit of a gereralization, better if you listen for yoursel.
Leslie and the Lys - Can best be described as disco rap, with a little bit of punk thrown in here and there. I discovered Leslie Hall through Yo Gabba Gabba (yes a kids show, but don't laugh the last 5 good bands I have discovered were via this show) and then just randomly googled her and discovered I really liked her.
The Aggrolites - another "Yo Gabba Gabba" discovery. They're basically Reggae and sometimes a bit Ska. (The MySpace page even has their YGG song "Banana" it's the yellowish YouTube video).
Supernova - You may remember this band from the movie "Clerks".. they are the band that sings the "Chewbacca" song. They're punky, fun, and a lot of thier songs are child friendly ("you better take your vitamins"). Oh and yes, they have also appeared on YGG (singing "Up and Down").
Hepcat - yeah apparently I was too busy gothing out at ManRay and going to raves that I missed some good music during the 90's. Thanks again to YGG for reintroduing me! They're also mostly Ska and Reggae type stuff.
Also Terri recommended:
The Aquabats - another "Yo Gabba Gabba" gem. If you missed them during the 90's (don't know how I let myself) definately give them a chance now. They're funny and they play good muic. I guess they could best be described as comedy post-punk.
Muse - I discovered them about a year ago on our local alternative station WFNX, so no technically yhey're not new to me, but definately worth an honorable mention. A bit like the step-brother of Franz Ferdinand, but heavier and without all the repetativeness.
A couple of others, not so new, but definately good. In case you haven't yet heard of them:
Social Distortion - Rockabilly Punk. Good good music that makes you want to skank around your living room.
The Cult - I've always thought their lead singer Ian Astbury has one of the best voices in rock, and also that they are extremely underrated. They are/were heavy alternative before that sort of thing was really popular.
Foo Fighters - yeah I'm going to assume you heard of these guys, if not click the link already you'll be glad you did.

Incidentally since I keep mentioning it. If you get Noggin or Nick Jr. on cable... Yo Gabba Gabba is probably the most excellent children's show in a long time. It's a bit like The Banana Splits meets The Young Ones (which no was not a children's show but always had excellent music guests). Giant rubber suit mascots and cool cool music. Also other non-music guests (Elijah Wood, Tony Hawk, Hector Jimenez) and drawings by Mark Mothersbaugh (yes from Devo)! The music keeps your kids moving and active as well as exposing them to different styles and each episode always has important lessons (sharing/manners/etc.).
